Now mobile users of 45 countries including India can access Facebook on mobile phones on Reliance & Videocon networks.

Facebook has tied up with Reliance Communications and Videocon telecom operators to make the site available for mobile users with no data charges.

The new site “o.facebook.com” optimised for speed has launched for free access.

On Wednesday, Sid Murlidhar (Programme Manager for Facebook Mobile) wrote in a blog “Today, we are launching … ‘0.facebook.com’. “It, initially, is available through more than 50 mobile operators in 45 countries and territories with zero data charges”.

People will only pay for data charges when they view photos or when they leave 0.facebook.com to browse other mobile sites.

Google has introduced encrypted search which gives user the option to use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) to prevent packet whiffing.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology is formulated to protect from illegitimate groups from whiffing data traveling between a user’s computer and a server.

The service also uses its own Google logo, so you can be sure that SSL is there.

According to Microsoft support Lifecycle policy for Window service packs which states that “when a new service pack is released, Microsoft will provide 24 months of support for the previous service pack for products that belong to the Windows product family“, The company announce that support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 will end of Microsoft’s official tech support on July 13th.

This means users of both operating systems will no longer receive security updates, support assistance, or help from paid support. But still have access to self-help online support for at least another year.

A new Worm spreading through Yahoo Messenger & Skype.

Yahoo Messenger and Skype users needs to be very careful before clicking on the link received from relatives or even his friends.

How it can enter in your system :

The Worm can enter your system via various messages that you would be receiving with the Yahoo or Skype IM. Like these messages “Does my new hair style look good? bad? perfect?” or “My printer is about to be thrown through a window if this pic won’t come out right. You see anything wrong with it?” . The message guide you to a web page or a rapidshare download & download file contains the worm W32.Skyhoo.Worm

Once entered in your system, worm automatically sends malicious links to your Skype or Yahoo Messenger contacts & also infect your MS Word and Excel files.

How it is spreading :

Yahoo IM and skype users receives a message from a contact to download photo but it is malware instead of photo that installs a backdoor on Windows systems and spreads to a victim’s IM contacts.

The link represents a file ending with. JPG as making people think it is an image file.

If the user clicks on the link, an executable file will be downloaded. If the user runs the file, the computer will become infected and the malicious message will be distributed to all of the IM contacts.

According to Symantec, “Once run, the worm copies itself to %WinDir%\infocard.exe, then it adds itself to the Windows Firewall List,” modifies registry keys, and stops the Windows Updates service.

According to Bkis the “W32.Skyhoo.Worm,” disappears if the computer does not have Skype or Yahoo Messenger installed.

Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden’s Facebook Fan Page has been shut down. The account became active less than a month ago, but had already attracted nearly 1000 fans to watch posts linking to speeches and recordings of the Islamic extremist.

Osama had a page named “The leader of the Mujahideen, Osama bin Laden” and his address is given as “the mountains of the world”.

Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes said “People often attempt to register fake accounts under the name of famous or infamous people, and we have a number of technical measures designed to prevent this behavior”

“Sometimes these fakes do get through, but there is no evidence to suggest that the account in question or the other dozens of people who have tried to present themselves as Osama Bin Laden have any relation to the terrorist. As is our standard practice, we have disabled the account,” he added.

Although it is unclear who started the page, Facebook says they doubt there is any direct link, and the page was likely put up by supporters in the Middle East.

US based Motorola is in talks with all Indian Telecom Service Providers to launch iSIM, a flexible wafer that can be attached to the original SIM providing additional services that can be controlled via SIM tool kit (STK), allowing third-party developers to build applications and services. This allows the user to access three other numbers on the same handset, without even having to buy a multi-SIM.

User can switch between different phone numbers purveyed to different networks or the same network without changing SIMs. Each iSIM supports up to four IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) profiles and each IMSI profile can be purveyed to one phone number.

The unique 15-digit International Mobile Subscriber Identity is found on SIM cards and Motorola iSIM approves four of IMSI numbers.

As Mohanty said “the new application is expected to pick up very fast in Asian markets, since the trend of one person keeping two mobiles is quite popular here. The future of iSIM looks bright as according to research done by Strategy Analytics, dual-SIM phones would capture seven percent of the total mobile phone market by 2014″
