1. (a) Explain what is base line, check line, tie line and offsets in chain surveying.
  (b) Describe points to be kept in mind while selecting stations for chain survey.

The distance between two points was measured with a 20 m chain. The distance measured was found to be 6344 m. It was found that the chain was 5 cm too short at the end of work but was correct in the beginning of the work. Calculate correct distance.

  (b) What are various sources of errors in compass survey?
3. (a) Describe disadvantages of plane table survey over other methods commonly used by you.
