Nokia Launched It’s First Dual Sim Mobile In India

Nokia has launched it’s first dual sim mobile (C1 & C2) in India. But Nokia C1 supports dual-SIM with only one SIM active at a time whereas the C2 supporting dual-SIM can have both the SIM active at a time.

This turn of Nokia makes mobile handset market hot once again as domestic companies such as Micromax, Lava & Karbonn sold dual sim handsets at very low price with multimedia functions.

Nokia C1 has screen size of 1.8-inch with TFT screen of resolution 128 x160 pixels. It has 500 phonebook entries, a flashlight, FM radio and a 3.5mm headphones jack. The phone runs on Series 30 interface and the body weighs just 73g. The phone is available in blue, red, light grey and green. The users can switch between the two SIM cards by simply holding down a key.
According to Nokia, Nokia C1 gives the longest ever battery life, 6 weeks, when compared to any other mobile handsets available in the market.
Nokia C1 is available in the Indian market at a cost of Rs. 1999.

The Nokia C2 has the same 1.8-inch TFT screen as compared to the C1 it has more apps and features. It uses Series 40 interface and has a VGA camera and Stereo FM with recording option. It also has MP3/WAV/AAC playback support, Bluetooth v2.0 and GPRS connectivity. MicroSD card is supported. The C2 will be loaded with Nokia’s online services like Ovi Life Tools and Ovi Mail to take advantage of its GPRS connectivity support. The phone comes in grey, black, magenta, dark blue or white. Nokia C2 handset has an expandable memory upto 32 GB using Micro SD cards.
Nokia C1 is available in the Indian market at a cost of Rs 2500.

Access Facebook For Free On Mobile Devices

Now mobile users of 45 countries including India can access Facebook on mobile phones on Reliance & Videocon networks.

Facebook has tied up with Reliance Communications and Videocon telecom operators to make the site available for mobile users with no data charges.

The new site “o.facebook.com” optimised for speed has launched for free access.

On Wednesday, Sid Murlidhar (Programme Manager for Facebook Mobile) wrote in a blog “Today, we are launching … ‘0.facebook.com’. “It, initially, is available through more than 50 mobile operators in 45 countries and territories with zero data charges”.

People will only pay for data charges when they view photos or when they leave 0.facebook.com to browse other mobile sites.

Motorola To Launch iSIM In India

US based Motorola is in talks with all Indian Telecom Service Providers to launch iSIM, a flexible wafer that can be attached to the original SIM providing additional services that can be controlled via SIM tool kit (STK), allowing third-party developers to build applications and services. This allows the user to access three other numbers on the same handset, without even having to buy a multi-SIM.

User can switch between different phone numbers purveyed to different networks or the same network without changing SIMs. Each iSIM supports up to four IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) profiles and each IMSI profile can be purveyed to one phone number.

The unique 15-digit International Mobile Subscriber Identity is found on SIM cards and Motorola iSIM approves four of IMSI numbers.

As Mohanty said “the new application is expected to pick up very fast in Asian markets, since the trend of one person keeping two mobiles is quite popular here. The future of iSIM looks bright as according to research done by Strategy Analytics, dual-SIM phones would capture seven percent of the total mobile phone market by 2014″

Motorola iSIM app was first rolled out in Europe, Middle East and Africa and Bipper iSIM will debut first in Bulgaria and Norway in 2010.

BSNL Launches Android Based 3G Mobile Phone

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announced the launch of Android-based 3G enabled Huawei U7510 touch screen Mobile phone to promote 3G mobile services in Tamil Nadu Telecom Circles.

The Huawei U7510 bundled with Free Video Callings (Local/STD), Free Talk Time and FREE 3G Internet/Data usage priced at Rs.6750 (Handset +Sim Kit+ FRC).

It includes:

  • 3G Data usage of 25 MB per month up to 2 months
  • 30 Minutes per month Local and STD Video Calls up to 6 months
  • Free Talk Time of Rs.50 per month up to 6 months

Videocon Enters Into GSM Mobile Service Market

Videocon Group today announced the launch of its GSM Mobile Services for the Chennai Circle. It became the 13th mobile operator in India.

Videocon Group has plans to roll out services in 100 cities and towns including Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai circle in the next 100 days and be a pan-India player by the end of September.

Videocon has acquired the licence of all 23 circles in India to expand its services.

Videocon GSM services are looking forward to throw in an investment of 14,000 crore to reach its target goal of 100 million subscribers in a span of three years.

The entry of new companies has always resulted into a price war and thus an advantage for consumers. This would lead to lower prices, better services and wider options for users.
